Yokohama Avid TRZ Tire Review
Standard All Season Touring This tire is designed for many types of driving conditions including dry, wet, and light snow. As I say in all my tire reviews if you don't drive in the snow, then you will want to go with a summer tire, which provides better dry and wet traction than an all season tire does.
That being said, if you drive in the snow for most of the winter you will want to go with a dedicated winter tire, that you then swap out for a summer tire. This will provide you with the best traction and performance possible for all seasons. Back to this tire now- the Yokohama Avid TRZ is a great All Season tire that performed well in most tests. Dry traction and handling was superior to other tires tested in the same class. Around corners the Avid TRZ gripped the road firmly and provided very good steering response. If you click on the tire image to the left you can see the tread in detail. Wet traction was good but when pushed aggressively around corners in the rain, the tires did slip a little, but regained traction quickly. On ice and in snow the Avid TRZ did well for an All Season tire, but not as well as a dedicated winter tire would perform. On the highway at 65 mph we tested not only how well the tire handled but also the noise. The tread on this tire was barely audible through our BMW 3 series test vehicle.
