Yokohama Avid Ascend Tire Review
Touring All Season Tire The Yokohama Avid Ascend is a very good Touring All Season tire. It scores very well in all categories including dry, wet, and snow traction. When pushed very aggressively in wet conditions around corners it does slip a little bit, but that is to be expected with most all season tires when driven hard. Traction on ice is good for this tire but if you are driving in snow and ice for most of the winter you will want to go with a dedicated winter / snow tire. You can this swap out for summer tires that perform better in wet and dry, once the seasons change. Dry traction and steering response is very good and beats most similar tires in this category. This tire gives a nice, quiet ride, and a solid tread pattern that provides confidence when accelerating and braking. Steering response is excellent, and so is cornering and stability while driving.
Conclusion:
The Yokohama Avid Ascend is a great All Season Touring tire. It scores excellent in most categories and performs very well in almost all conditions. When tested at the track and driven very aggressively in wet conditions, the tires do slide a little. The Yokohama Avid Ascend ranked #6 out of 28 tires tested in its class and is a good value. Price ranges from about $80 - $180 per tire depending on size and vendor. |
