Similar High Performance Summer Tires Michelin Pilot Super Sport Continental ExtremeContact DW Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport |
As you probably know (or I guess you should know) summer tires such as Hankook's latest reviewed here, are good for driving in dry and wet conditions but not on snow or ice. There are no small sipes here which provide grip in winter conditions or special tread compounds to keep the tire flexible in those cold conditions. What you do have here is one mean low profile tire meant for aggressive driving rain or shine.
The Ventus V12 evo K110 incorporates HPSR (High Tg Polymer and Specific Resin) technology which improves overall grip. Block edge 3D effect technology also improves grip and handling by evenly distributing the tires 'footprint' contact patch with the road. A high density nylon reinforcement belt (which is pretty much found on every pneumatic tire) helps the tire keep structure at high speeds and when cornering. Warranty: Treadlife: no Uniformity: 1 Year / first 2/32" of wear Materials: 5 Years (Free replacement first year or 2/32" of wear). Prorated until 2/32" depth. Tested: So do these tires perform when taken on the track and tested in all kinds of fun conditions? Dry traction is very good even when corning hard and driving at the limit. There is a small lag time in the steering response in which it takes the tires just a bit to catch up. This could be due to the softness of the tire, the height of the profile, or other design factors. Acceleration and braking were both excellent the tires gripped the road very well overall in dry conditions. The tires provided average road noise and fairly comfortable ride when driven over potholes and bumps in the road. When driven in the wet the tires gripped well in most conditions but did slip up a bit when driven more aggressively and cornering. The tread pattern does allow for good evacuation of water and we did not hydroplane at any point, even when going through good sized puddles. Braking in wet conditions was very good and comparable to similar summer tires tested.
Conclusion:
The Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 is a solid all around tire that is fun to drive and provides good handling in both wet and dry conditions. They provide a nice and smooth ride for a low profile tire such as this. Time will tell as to how long the treadwear will last for these tires, but generally speaking summer tires with soft tread compound and driven hard = replacing your tires frequently. The Ventus v12 evo K110 is definitely on the value side of the spectrum for max performance summer tires with a price ranging from about $70 to $170 depending on size and vendor.
