Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 Tire Review
Winter Tire
By Tabitha
The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 is designed to provide high performance amidst harsh winter weathers. It uses a tread rubber compound that remains flexible at lower temperatures and increases grip in wet, snowy, and icy roads. The tire’s bi-directional and variable-thickness sipes further help in this regard as they improve handling and traction while effectively resisting hydroplaning.
The tire’s tread utilizes Michelin’s Comfort Control Technology, which optimizes the overall design and guarantee precision in manufacturing to reduce vibrations and noise. It also features a bigger contact patch to help drivers maintain control when faced with slippery conditions such as in the case of black ice.
The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 is available in a limited number of sizes, with width ranging from 225-295mm and rim diameter ranging from 17”-18”. With its existing size and diameter, this tire is more suited for lighter cars such as sedans and coupes.
Having passed the industry’s severe snow requirements, this snow radial is branded with the mountain/snowflake symbol. Its MSRP starts at roughly $200, however, the price changes based on your specification and vendor.

Warranty
The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 has a great warranty for a winter tire:
- Standard Limited Warranty—this covers defects in workmanship and materials throughout the lifespan of the original tread or for 6 years from when you bought it, whichever comes first.
- 30,000 Mile Manufacturer's Treadwear Limited Warranty—it will take 30,000 miles before your tire needs to be replaced. That’s Michelin’s pledge. However, you must remember that for your set to actually reach this mileage, the front and rear tires must be of the same size.
