5 Most Awesome Cars from the Future

When you think about the future, what do you imagine? Cyborgs, aliens, and the dytopia vs. utopia possibilities? If you’re a gearhead, your first thought is likely what the rides of the future will look like. Some sci-fi movies, television shows and books have given fans a glimpse into the “what if’s.” Even if the “future” has come and gone without these predictions coming true, there are still some pretty amazing cars to dream about.

Check out some of the most incredible and desirable “cars of the future.” Who knows, they might be coming to a dealership near you.

1. DeLorean

It doesn’t matter that the DMC-12 was the only model DeLorean ever created, that it broke down constantly or that those lift doors made parking impossible. It was a time machine, and that secured its place as a classic car to this day. You’ll still spot a few of them on the roads (more often being towed than driven), and it’s a relatively affordable indulgence.

2. The iRobot Audi

Now this is cruise control at its finest. The first thing people noticed in this Will Smith “vehicle” were the wheels, encased in a frame that made it appear to be floating. It was a more realistic option than flying cars considering the future in this book cum film wasn't too far away. Of course, you’ll still need to keep the wheels maintained for such a ride, but they’d last longer since the car optimized driving for you (while you napped if you like).

3. The Crown Victoria in Men in Black

The most powerful of rides doesn't need to be flashy. Will Smith (again) played a character who poked fun at the old machine, which was actually kitted out with a red button that worked wonders. It was evidence to not underestimate plain Janes, because those are the ones that usually have the most kick.

4. Landrovers in Judge Dredd

Many people don’t realize this, but the Landrovers that looked like half Hummers, half Transformers are actually available. However, they were only approved by federal governments and Landrover in certain countries. There have been sightings of them in Britain, but not in the US.

5. Aliens’ APC

This is what sci-fi geeks really want future cars to be. Nearly indestructible, flying and barely looking like a vehicle at all, it’s actually an SUV that’s ideal for doing everything from battling aliens to holiday shopping.

Which futuristic awesome cars / vehicles did I miss? Let me know in the comments.
